Tied to the Tides: Courtney & Cody's Two Lights State Park Wedding
Courtney and Cody's wedding day was everything you'd hope for in a coastal Maine celebration — intimate, elegant, full of meaningful moments, and lighthouses galore.
From their winter engagement session on a frozen Maine lake to exchanging vows at Two Lights State Park, we loved capturing their wedding!
Their love for simple, heartfelt moments and timeless imagery guided the entire day. After the ceremony, we set sail into Casco Bay on a private charter boat, with golden light spilling over the water, laughter, joy, and a few cigars.
From Frozen Lake to Rocky Coast
It's a fun contrast to think about — Courtney and Cody's engagement session out on the ice, all quiet and stillness, and then months later standing on the wind-swept cliffs of Two Lights, with the Atlantic stretched out behind them. Maine does that: the same couple, the same love, and two completely different landscapes to tell it against. That range is part of what made this wedding feel so distinctly theirs.
A Headland Made for Vows
Two Lights State Park sits on 41 rocky acres in Cape Elizabeth, with views out over Casco Bay and the open Atlantic, and the twin lighthouses it's named for keeping watch nearby. It's rugged rather than manicured — no ballroom, no tent, just cliffs, sky, and water — which is exactly what drew Courtney and Cody to it. For a couple who wanted their day to feel simple and heartfelt rather than staged, saying vows with that kind of coastline as a backdrop did most of the talking.
Setting Sail into Casco Bay
The part of the day we keep coming back to, though, is what came after the ceremony. Instead of heading straight to a reception hall, Courtney and Cody chartered a private boat and sailed out into Casco Bay as the light started to turn gold. It's not something we get to photograph often — the wind, the water, everyone a little looser and happier by the minute, cigars passed around, the whole boat laughing. It turned the afternoon into its own celebration before the celebration, and it's some of our favorite light of the entire day.
