Will and Elise's wedding at Old Saco Inn in Fryeburg, Maine was a beautiful mix of classic New England style and genuine, joyful energy. With over 200 guests gathered under lodge beams and soft summer skies, the day unfolded with a sense of deep connection — from emotional ceremony moments to a packed dance floor that didn't quit.
Working alongside my second photographer, we documented everything from the quiet anticipation of getting ready to the full celebration, surrounded by the charm and warmth that make Maine lodge weddings so special.
A Barn Built for a Crowd
Old Saco Inn sits on 65 acres along the Old Saco River, with the White Mountains rising up behind it, and the post-and-beam barn at its center is exactly the kind of space that makes a 200-person wedding still feel warm instead of cavernous. Big timber trusses, string lights and chandeliers overhead, a fireplace glowing at one end — it's rustic without trying too hard, and it gave Will and Elise's day room to hold everyone they loved without losing any of that lodge-wedding coziness.
Room to Roam
With that much land to work with, the day had a natural rhythm to it — quiet corners for getting-ready portraits, open meadow and riverbank for the two of them to steal a few minutes alone, and then the barn filling back up as the evening went on. Having a second photographer with us meant we could be in two places at once: one of us catching Elise's reaction as she saw Will for the first time, the other watching his.
A Dance Floor That Didn't Quit
By the time dinner wrapped, the energy in the barn hadn't dropped at all — if anything it built. Two hundred guests on a dance floor is its own kind of magic, and there's nothing quite like photographing a room that's genuinely, unselfconsciously having fun. That's the moment this venue seems built for: string lights up, doors open to the summer night, everyone still dancing.
